In July 2021 Hotel De Gouden Leeuw was hit by a fire. The main building, where the fire broke out, housed the Valk restaurant, the Live Cooking restaurant, Restaurant Upstairs, the meeting and banquet rooms and our luxury rooms/suites. The main building was so damaged that we couldn't open this building. Meanwhile, the side building has also closed its doors. The other facilities on our site will remain open.
The new Gouden Leeuw
After having welcomed many guests with pride for more than 80 years, it is time to place a building that fully meets the current Van der Valk standard. We expect to be able to start construction in spring 2024.
In the new building, there will be one large restaurant on the ground floor, where we will present the buffets, as well as the à la carte restaurant. The terrace will be at the front of the building. All meeting rooms, for both business and private use, will also be located on the ground floor.
The hotel rooms and long-stay apartments will be built on the first and second floors. Together with the side building, we offer around 200 rooms. We are also creating a roof garden on the first floor.
As soon as the new building is taken into use, we will tear down the pop restaurant De Kleine Leeuw, so that a fellow hotel can reuse the building.
