Den Haag

From the historic city center, trendy shops, museums and the beach: The Hague offers it all.

CULTURE
The Hague has a high-quality range of museums and beautiful exhibitions. The Hague can rightly be called a city full of art and culture. The Mauritshuis, for example, has an extensive collection of great masters, with the "Girl" with the Pearl of the painter Vermeer as a "gem". The Gemeentemuseum has a permanent collection with many paintings by Piet Mondrian and the only 19th century panorama painting in the Netherlands can be admired in Panorama Mesdag.

Mesdag
The Mesdag Collection consists of the house - and also studio - of the Mesdag couple and the museum, an intimate building with an exclusive atmosphere.

On the Laan van Meerdervoort lies the former home of Hendrik Willem Mesdag (1831-1915), the famous sea painter and his wife. Besides painting, he was a great art collector. Mesdag had a museum built for his exceptional collection, which contains countless masterpieces from the French School of Barbizon and the Hague School of the 19th century. He built this museum right next to his house and opened it to art lovers.

Louwman museum
Two generations Louwman collected from 1934 a unique collection of automobiles. Seen since July 2010.

It started in 1934. P.W. Louwman, importer of Dodge and Chrysler in The Hague, bought a then 20 year old Dodge for his own collection. In 2 generations, the collection grew to 230 historic automobiles. Each automobile tells its own story and makes its own contribution to history. They are mirrors of culture.

Madurodam
The world-famous miniature city Madurodam has been ideal for almost 60 years to get acquainted with all the surprising aspects of the Netherlands: Amsterdam canal houses, the Dom Tower in Utrecht, the Binnenhof in The Hague with the Golden Coach and part of the Delta Works. In Madurodam everything that the Netherlands is famous for is built on scale 1:25 to the smallest detail.

MARKETS
Lovers of lively markets can indulge in The Hague. There are antiques, curio and book markets in The Hague. But also markets and even an organic market. In addition, different neighborhoods also have their own market.

SHOP
Prinsestraat
Hidden in the historic Hofkwartier behind the Grote Kerk is the Prinsestraat. This is where Hip Den Haag hits the trend in fashion and accessories, design shops and art galleries.

The Passage
With the arrival of the Passage at the end of the 19th century, it was expected that the luxury items ordered by private individuals in Paris until that time would now be sold by the shopkeepers of the Passage. For example, department stores from Paris, for example, sent many of their articles to the Netherlands by post.

This specialist high-quality product range still characterizes the Passage. For example, coffee and tea, cookware, designer gift items or special pens can be found in the Passage.
